Hiring Fast

Companies want vacant positions filled as quickly as possible. The two main reasons for wanting to hire fast are: loss in productivity while the position remains unfilled, and the cost of recruiting.

Although the old adage of “taking your time” may sometimes be the right game plan; more often than not “striking while the iron is hot” is the more accurate state of mind for recruiting.

Some negatives of a slow recruiting timeline are:

  • The initial purpose-driven motivation you instilled in the recruiting team wears away as time goes on.
  • With little time-based pressure, recruiters invest less effort.
  • Applicants are exponentially less interested in an opportunity that doesn’t have quick feedback or a visible finish-line.
  • Candidates that you may have had in the pipeline are steadily siphoned off to other opportunities as the days go by.

For your next position you need to fill quickly and efficiently, give the professionals at Tiger Labor & Staffing a call. We’ll handle all of the recruiting, interviewing, and on-boarding for you; while you focus on your business!

Getting Ghosted

In recruiting, even the best of us are getting sick of being ghosted by candidates! Below are some top reasons from the American Staffing Association about why we get “ghosted” by candidates, and suggestions on how we can improve!

  1. “Fishing from a fished-out pool”

The most popular job boards for candidates, are also the most popular for employers. The candidate you contacted is constantly distracted by several other job offers. Make sure your company has individualized job boards on your website or on social media to get individuals more focused on you.

  1. “You’re too slow”

Traditionally the intervals between application review processes, phone interviews, in-person interviews, and follow-up interviews was measured in days, or sometimes even weeks.

The modern job seeker is clicking from job to job in seconds, we need to make sure we have internal processes to reach out to candidates very quickly after their initial contact and move on our chosen candidates as fast as professionally possible.

  1. “They’re just not motivated”

If this is a candidate with a resume that looks like a good fit; don’t just process them, recruit them! Ask for further information about their career goals, and give back motivation regarding the incentives of the particular position.

As the recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding processes become more and more complicated; Tiger Labor & Staffing is there to assist our clients through every step.

We handle everything, taking all the recruiting burdens and time-consuming tasks off of your team so that you can focus on your business.

Vast Majority of Americans Prefer In-Person Job Interviews vs. Virtual

When interviewing for a new job, Americans overwhelmingly prefer an in-person meeting to a virtual format, according to the latest American Staffing Association Workforce Monitor® online survey conducted by The Harris Poll.

In total, 70% of all Americans prefer in-person job interviews, compared with 17% who favor video calls and only 9% who prefer audio-only calls.

“Job seekers may prefer to have the option to work remotely, but they still want to make their first impressions in person.,” said Richard Wahlquist, president and chief executive officer at the American Staffing Association.

Tiger Labor & Staffing knows that our clients are best served by us performing in-person interviewing and screening. As more staffing firms are running to become more and virtual, they risk losing touch with the candidates they are hired to screen.

Is Working Remotely Best for your Career?

According to an American Staffing Association and Harris Poll Survey, nearly six in 10 U.S. adults (56%) believe employees who work exclusively in-office have a competitive advantage over their fully remote counterparts when it comes to getting raises, bonuses, and promotions. However, despite this sentiment, less than half (48%) of workers report they are working completely in-person, 28% are working on a hybrid schedule, and 24% are fully remote.

Although the idea of working from home seemed attractive to most employees whenever the necessity began to arise in 2020, a majority of people were glad to be back in their usual work environment once they were allowed to do so.  A significant number of positions whose duties can be carried out remotely may remain so, but the advantages of having a dedicated workplace (away from home) with structured time and environment dedicated to your career is also now much more appreciated by employees as well as the companies they work for.

New Year of Fresh Challenges

Happy New Year from Tiger Labor & Staffing!

Although overall it still remains drastically more difficult to recruit than it was several years ago, small-business owners say it is getting easier to hire people and retain them, according to a survey of more than 650 entrepreneurs by the Wall Street Journal. Nearly 25% of respondents say it was easier to fill job openings in December than it was at the beginning of the year—an increase from 18% in November. Twenty percent said it was more difficult to fill open jobs, down from 25% in November. The shift is modest and comes as unfilled job openings continue to pressure many small companies. Of those surveyed, 56% said hiring challenges made it difficult to operate at full capacity. Eighty-four percent reported boosting wages in response to labor-market challenges, and more than two-thirds reported offering flexible hours and schedules.
