Variable Labor Requirements Often Left Warehousing Company Short-handed.

The Challenge

Terminal Transfer, a transfer and storage company with 500,000 sq. ft. of storage capacity, needed unloading laborers for coffee bean sacks on an as-needed basis. Their former staffing company would only provide personnel if schedule was full-time and regular. This was unacceptable since their requirements changed from day to day. After the staffing agency walked away, they were stuck with no available options.

Our Solution

We suggested they call us 24 hours ahead of time when deliveries were scheduled that would need unloading. We promised to dispatch workers in person to ensure they had the requested workforce on time.

Implementation

We took a tour of their facility to visualize task at hand and consult with the owner about important details. We interviewed job seekers to develop an at-ready pool of workers. Workers were dispatched directly from our office each day, as needed, to ensure they arrived on-time and prepared to work.

Results

With Tiger Labor’s help, client received the help they needed for each scheduled shipment. Shipments were handled without the burden and cost of hiring multiple unneeded personnel directly.

Client Testimonial

“Tiger Labor has really come to my rescue these past few months even when I called them at the last minute. They are always accommodating. Can’t say enough about Ashley and Brittany and how easy they are to work with and always there to get it done, even when I have to change things in the middle of the day. We here at Terminal Transfer look forward to working with Tiger as long as possible. They are a great group of people, and the employees they send are always willing to do whatever is necessary for the job. Tiger Labor is a great company to work with.”

One-man plumbing company needed help to take on larger projects.

The Challenge

Jake’s Plumbing was a successful one-man operation, but Jake often found himself needing assistance for larger projects but wasn’t quite ready to hire another full-time employee. He was doing his best to complete jobs on his own while taking longer to complete big jobs or passing on them altogether.

Our Solution

We proposed that Jake set up an account with us and call whenever he needed a helper, whether for a day or a week.

Implementation

Tiger visited the job site to get an idea of the scope of the work, screened applicants based on the level of skills needed for the particular job, and had workers appear at our office before work.

Results

Jake had the help he needed, only when he needed it. This enabled him to complete his jobs faster and take on more jobs. He is now a successful ten-man operation.

Client Testimonial

“When I opened Jake’s plumbing, I was completely on my own with no employees. I didn’t need help on every job, but many jobs weren’t able to be done by one person. I was unable to hire employees due to payroll and insurance costs. I was able to grow my business using labor from Tiger Labor & Staffing. They took care of the scheduling, payroll, and insurance paperwork and requirements. I eventually ended up hiring a permanent employee from them. Robert and his staff are always great about scheduling. I’ve had occasions where I was only able to give notice the night before and still had a worker show up at 7 or 8 the next morning. Although our company has grown to employ multiple plumbers and apprentices, we still utilize Tiger Labor & Staffing when we find ourselves short-handed or need to complete a job faster.”

Newspaper production company struggled with variable personnel requirements.

The Challenge

The Advocate had a varying production level that led to temporary rises and falls in personnel needs. Current levels often left them in a bind during times of greatest need, especially during the holiday season. They tried multiple staffing firms that all fell short when it came to making sure the right number of personnel came out, and dealt with workers who were consistently late.

Our Solution

Our solution was to utilize our process that virtually eliminates absences and tardiness on short-term projects.

Implementation

We had crews up to 20 personnel check-in at our office one hour before job start time. We had daily conversations with the supervisor to determine which personnel to keep and which to replace.

Results

All requested personnel orders were filled on time. Production needs were met and exceeded so that customer’s needs were filled, and personnel were able to spend more time at home with family and friends during the holidays.

Commercial Construction Firm Faced an Ongoing Shortage of Qualified Workers.

The Challenge

Buquet & LeBlanc had a recurring need for several laborers at construction sites, but it did not warrant hiring more full-time employees. Previous staffing agencies’ workers either didn’t consistently show up, showed up late or showed up without necessary PPE. They were often forced to move workers between jobs or call staffing agencies that didn’t rise to the occasion.

Our Solution

We suggested Buquet & LeBlanc to call Tiger Labor & Staffing 24 hours in advance with job details. We would have prospective workers show up to our offices one hour before assignment start time, and issue proper PPE as needed and work instructions. We would work with employer to replace any workers that don’t show or showed unprepared – but our process is aimed at removing this risk from the process.

Implementation

We visited the job site to gain proper perspective of need. We prepared a group of qualified workers, dispatched workers in person each day from our office, on time and with the proper PPE.

Results

The Buquet & LeBlanc team no longer had to spend their valuable resources of time and money to move workers from other jobs. We removed the burden of filling these time-sensitive positions with qualified, reliable workers. With a 100% fill rate, the construction firm was able to get the job done quickly and efficiently.
